Mechanic Gregg Stone was outside the St. Louis, Mo., service center shop working on a linehaul unit when he heard a loud noise from the highway. A car had hit the concrete divider and was on fire. He got a fire extinguisher from the shop, took it to the car and found a woman unconscious in the driver's seat. He first got the woman out of the car away from the burning auto, then extinguished the fire. A passing motorist called 911.
While they were waiting for the fire department to arrive, the car began to blaze again. Gregg ran back to the shop to get a larger fire extinguisher to put the second fire out. He and the person who called 911 cared for the woman until the fire department arrived.
