Driving Training Institute FAQs
  1. Do I really need a Grade 12 Education to attend your program?
    No. However, the Transportation Industry is getting more complex each day, so the better the education, the better the chance for success you have.

  2. What funding is available?
    Manitoba Educational and Training services are available, depending on eligibility for those qualified. Additionally, you may qualify under the Manitoba Public Insurance Corp. funding.

  3. How long is the program?
    The course is 8 weeks long. The first two weeks are in the classroom from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The next six weeks consists of In-the-Cab practical sessions training from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

  4. What type of equipment is available?
    We have eight, late-model Volvos and Macks with the latest technology and eight 48- and 53-foot trailers.

  5. Do you guarantee jobs?
    Although we do not guarantee jobs, we have an excellent job placement assistance program. In addition, graduates from our Training Institute receive one of the best and most widely recognized training programs in the Trucking industry. Reimer Express Driver Training Institute Inc. is proud to have a 98 percent successful graduation record and an exceptionally high job placement rate. All students are actively sought by the transportation industry. Approximately 80 percent of our graduates choose employment with YRC Reimer.

  6. Is a medical examination required before enrollment?
    Yes, Manitoba Motor Vehicle Branch requires a medical exam to acquire your Class 1 instruction permit.

  7. What are the prerequisites to enroll?
    You must be 18 years of age to work in Canada and 21 years of age to work in the United States, so you must be at least 18 to take the course. You must have an acceptable Driver's Abstract in keeping with current industry standards. You must also have a valid Class V drivers license and pass the provincial medical exam. You must obtain your Class 1 and Air Brake Instruction permits. All students must have an English benchmark of 6 in speaking, reading and comprehension.

  8. We have heard that the police and government departments involved in transportation attend Reimer Express Driver Training Institute. Is that true?
    We are very proud of the fact that we have offered training to personnel from law enforcement agencies, such as the RCMP and the Winnipeg City Police Service—Vehicle Inspection Unit. Additionally, the Manitoba Department of Highways and the Motor Vehicle Branch have also chosen our school to train their Class 1 Examiners.
