Where do I set up my discount information in ExpressWORKS?

  1. Click File > Support Databases > Rating Maintenance, then click Pricing Program Maintenance Simple Or Advanced.
  2. Click Search at the bottom, select YRC with the effective date that matches your Tariff.
  3. Click Basic or Advanced Edit; the default Pricing ID "AA" displays.
  4. Enter your percentage amount on the percentage or discount line and click Save.

Where do I Enter Fuel Surcharge in ExpressWORKS?

  1. Click File > Support Databases > Rating Maintenance, then click Fuel Surcharge Maintenance.
  2. Click New at the bottom.
  3. Enter a date and then enter the Percent To Apply.
  4. Click Save at the bottom.

When you create a bill of lading (BOL), the tool checks the Fuel Surcharge field to ensure it's completed on the BOL. Please check our website for updated percentage amounts: Go to www.yrc.com, then click Shipper's Info, then Fuel Surcharge.

How do I know whether the new rates in ExpressWORKS apply to me?
Please contact your account executive for any questions pertaining to your pricing program with us.
Will ExpressWORKS for Windows stop working if I don't update to the current rates?
No, the software will not expire; however, you must register to continue using the bill of lading module after a 60-day trial. You need not update the software, but please remember that each year, a new Rate Base is available. To keep your rates up-to-date, we recommend that you update your software periodically.

How can I increase the size of my rate quote screen in ExpressWORKS?
There are two options:

  • Change the resolution setting in Control Panel > Display Properties. Your computer or information systems provider can provide assistance if need be.
    or
  • Drag the screen's border to your desired size.

How do I set the default printer for labels and bills of lading?

  1. Click Options in the Tools menu.
  2. Click the Bill Of Lading Output tab at the top.

How do I set up ExpressWORKS on a network?
ExpressWORKS can't be installed directly on a server. The application must be installed on each user's workstation with full administrative rights.

Default installation is sufficient with the exception of directing the data to be installed on the network drive. You will be prompted to make this choice.

You may install additional workstations in the same fashion as long as no data has been entered.

How do I add a proper shipping name for hazardous material?

  1. Point to Setup in the File menu, then click EDI Table Maintenance.
  2. Select New to add a new record.
  3. Select 277-UN/NA Identification in the ANSI Selection drop-down list.
  4. Enter the UN or NA number in the ANSI Code field.
  5. Enter the Proper Shipping Name in the Description field.
  6. Click Save to store the information in your permanent database.

How do I obtain and enter a new block of PRO numbers?
Obtain PRO numbers from your YRC account executives. You will enter PRO numbers in the carrier record:

  1. Point to Support Databases in the File menu, then select Carrier Maintenance.
  2. Select List in the Record menu or click Search to list the carriers.
  3. Select YRC from the list. On the BOL Tab, ensure that the Auto Pro box is checked in the bottom-left corner.
  4. Enter the starting number of the PRO number range in the Next PRO Number field.
  5. Enter the ending number of the PRO number range in the Last PRO Number field.
    Note: The format should be 000-000000.
  6. Select Save to store the changes to your database.

How do I archive my bills of lading?

  1. Point to Bills of Lading in the Run menu and select Bill of Lading Management.
  2. Enter the search criteria and select Run Query; the bills of lading (BOLs) will display in the grid.
  3. Select the BOLs to be archived.
    Tip: Click the first BOL in the list, hold down the Shift Key, then click the last BOL in the list to select all the BOLs in between.
  4. Click Archive at the bottom of the screen.
  5. Enter a name for the archive file, then click OK; your archive file is stored in \Program Files\ExpressW\Arch.

How do I display my archived bills of lading?

  1. Click Options in the Tools Menu, then click the Data Tab.
  2. Click Use Archive under BOL Data at the bottom of the screen; a blank box with an arrow appears.
  3. Click the down arrow and choose the file name of the archived data you wish to display.
  4. Click OK at the bottom.

When you open the Advanced or Simple Bill of Lading, you will see at the top that you are using Archived Data. You will need to return to the current data file before you create a new bill of lading.

How do I enter a Third-Party Payment Type in the Advanced Bill of Lading?
The options for Terms are either Prepaid or Collect. If you select a Payer from the Payer section in the Advanced Bill of Lading, the tool recognizes your BOL as a Third-Party BOL.

How do I register ExpressWORKS?

  1. Click Setup in the File Menu, then click Online Registration.
  2. Complete the entire form, then choose Register Offline or Register Online.
I am still using your DOS version of ExpressWORKS. How can I get my data from the old version to the new ExpressWORKS?
You MUST be on Version 2.0x of the old ExpressWORKS. On the ExpressWORKS for Windows CD-ROM, there is a folder labeled Convert. Double click this folder and choose Convert.Exe. This will move your Addresses, Carriers and Commodities from the old program into the new program.

How do I import my data into the ExpressWORKS program?

  1. Click Import in the File menu, then click the type of file you are importing in the Type field at the top.
  2. Type in the filename of the file you are going to import, or click on Browse to find it.The Error File Name can be what you choose, but it must have a .txt file extension.
  3. Select the appropriate file type. Follow the Tabs at the bottom to match the file type you are importing.
  4. Click the Import button at the bottom.

How do I export my data from the ExpressWORKS program?

  1. Click Export in the File menu.
  2. Choose the type of file you are going to Export from the Type field at the top.
  3. Type in the filename of the file you are going to Export, or click on Browse to find it. The Error File Name can be what you choose, but it must have a .txt file extension.
  4. Choose your File Type. Click the Search button at the bottom to search for specific records or click Select All to export all records.
  5. Click the Export button at the bottom; the tool stores exported files in \Program Files\ExpressW\User\Export folder unless you specify a different location.
