Freezable shipments are products that have the potential to freeze during transport, resulting in damage to the product.

What is the Freeze Protection program at YRC Freight?

The YRC Freight Freeze Protection policy covers products that freeze at or below 35° F./1.5° C. Our Protective Services Policy is designed to safely transport freezable shipments for participating shippers. The policy uses well-established procedures for handling less-than-truckload (LTL) freight in freezing weather, including:

• Monitoring weather forecasts using AccuWeather
• Labeling shipments and waybills distinctively to easily identify freezable goods
• Designating sheltered areas to hold freezable freight during severe weather
• Following procedures for protecting goods while in transit
• Investing in thousands of technology engineered and environmentally friendly insulated covers so that they area available when and where you need them

What types of products are shipped as Freeze Protection shipments?

Many products qualify as freezables, but not all are included in the Freeze Protection program. YRC Freight provides freeze protection to such industries as chemical and allied products, food and beverage, candy, pharmaceutical, cosmetic and agricultural.

When is the YRC Freight Freeze Protection service available?

YRC Freight is the only carrier to provide year-round protection under its Freeze Protection program. The primary season is from November through April.
