Tips for Shipping an Exhibit to a Show
1. Ship your booth to the show earlier. Most shows offer 30-day free storage through the advance warehouse location. Make sure your bill of lading and shipping labels are clearly marked with this important information:
Be creative about how you mark your packaging when you are shipping to a show. Use packaging that can be identified from a distance (i.e., different colored shrink-wrap). 2. It's always a good idea when you are shipping into or out of a show to drop your business card into each shipping container. This helps identify any loose piece(s) that may have been separated from the shipment. If the inbound shipment is going directly to the show site, advise the carrier of the show's contractors "move-in" hours. Let them know if your shipment is a targeted booth for a specified "move-in" date or time. 3. When shipping to a tradeshow, remember that yours may be only one of many going on in your destination city. Information such as event name, decorator and targeted move in dates are vital in helping YRC ensure your exhibit gets to its proper destination timely and efficiently. 4. Be sure to properly fill out your bill of lading. Whether shipping to the advance warehouse or shipping directly to the show site, it is important to include: show name, exhibitor name, booth #, service contractor, pieces, weight, payor of the freight charges, and target delivery date.
