What is EDI?
EDI is the computer-to-computer exchange of business data (or messages) in a structured format, without human intervention. Two keys are:
  1. EDI enables inter-company business automation.
  2. EDI uses standard data formats. The American National Standards Institute (ANSI X12) and the United Nations (EDI for Administration, Commerce and Trade, EDIFACT) maintain the most widely used standards.
How do I set up EDI with YRC?
First, discuss your needs with your account executive. If EDI is the right information solution for you, you will complete a Trading Partner Profile on our site. The form will be emailed to the appropriate YRC EDI analyst to get you started.
Which transaction sets does YRC support?
The six main transaction sets are Invoicing (210), Bill of Lading (211), Shipment Status (214), Shipment Pickup Notification (216), Remittance Advice (820), and Delivery Trailer Manifest (212). If interested in any other transaction sets, please contact us by email.
Which versions does YRC Support?
We recommend that you use current versions so that you benefit from enhancements to the transaction sets. Currently, YRC supports versions 3050, 3070, 4010, 4020 and 4030.
Does YRC support EDI over the Internet?
YRC provides for direct connections via AS1 (SMTP), AS2 (HTTP), or FTP, which eliminates VAN use. You can choose the method you wish to use when you complete the Trading Partner Profile. For more-specific information, read our technical tips.
